NMC Partners with Hotels to Boost Voter Turnout Through Discounts
Nagpur voter turnout drive: In a concerted effort to increase voter turnout for the upcoming assembly elections, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated an engaging campaign that brings together the city’s hospitality sector and senior citizen groups to encourage voting. Led by NMC commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari and additional commissioner Ajay Charathankar, the campaign calls on hotel and restaurant owners to provide discounts to patrons who cast their ballots on election day, November 20, and the two following days.
During a recent meeting, Chaudhari highlighted the significance of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign (Nagpur voter turnout drive), requesting hotel associations to participate by displaying voter awareness messages and offering discounts as a reward for voting. This move is anticipated to help the NMC reach its goal of surpassing the previous Lok Sabha election turnout of 54.3%.
To further amplify the campaign’s impact, NMC also engaged senior citizen organizations, encouraging members to dedicate an hour to voter outreach, organizing rallies, and displaying banners in public spaces. Charathankar motivated senior citizens to lead by example, assisting with voter education in parks, community centers, and other common gathering areas. Meanwhile, the NMC recommended all citizens utilize resources such as the voter helpline app to plan their voting and avoid last-minute rushes. Additionally, NMC has set up selfie points around the city where voters can share their voting pride, fostering a community spirit around this democratic celebration. With full support from Deputy Commissioner Ranjana Lade and Assistant Superintendent Rajkumar Meshram, the initiative is aimed at invigorating voter participation in Nagpur.
