City gets 172MMC water from Totladoh dam, Kanhan

Against the demand of 182MMC, the town has solely 172MMC of needed raw drinking water reservation. In a meeting chaired by district collector Ravindra Thakre, the MWRRA finalized water reservation for non-irrigation users from reservoirs. Thakre told that water is adequate not just for the 2020 summer season, it’ll be enough for one more year. “The collector has suggested them to curtail water usage by 100% and even the MWRAA, beside the civic body, has reduced the water demand of all allocations by 100%,” aforesaid an official from the irrigation department.
A senior official from NMC’s waterworks department aforesaid that although MWRRA reduced the NMC’s demand by nearly 10MMC, it’ll not have any adverse impact in supply water to the voters. The official claimed that within the last one year, the NMC has succeeded in seizing wastage of water by nearly 100% of the city’s water allocation. Currently, the NMC is supply 640-660MLD water. Along with NMC, the MWRRA conjointly allotted water to 9 different cities and industries, as well as Sunflax business, Bhandara MIDC, Bhandara town, Jawharnagar Ordnance mill, Kamptee, and Parsons. It conjointly allotted 9MMC every for Khaparkheda and Koradi thermal power stations. The tariff for drinking raw water has not been revised, said Zalke. The recent rates can stay applicable. The tariff is 25 paise per 1,000 liters. Last year (from November 1, 2018, to October 31, 2019), against the allocation of 155MMC water, the civic body had withdrawn 193 MMC.
