Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Mohan Bhagwat said Saturday his group has no connection with politics and it only works to uplift the country’s political, economic, and human values.

The president of the RSS was in Moradabad with RSS staff for a four-day programme. At the conclusion of the event, addressing a large gathering, Bhagwat said that people from all walks of life are part of the organization, while some also run political parties.

“Elections tell us nothing. We are working over the last 60 years to maintain the country’s values, “he said. He also denied that the Bharatiya Janata Party was “remote controlling” the RSS pointing out that the organization worked for all 130 crore Indians. Working on the organisation, the 69-year-old explained that even if they do not come to their shakhas (activity camps) but should have the philosophy of national dignity, anyone can be called an RSS worker. Citing a meeting of the founder of the Bhoodan Movement Vinoba Bhave and former chief of the RSS M S Golwalkar, he said that the social reformer was a friend of the latter with the same philosophy, but not a member of the organization.

“There are so many top-class academics and social reformers who have our philosophy and not our allies. That is our success, “he proclaimed. Bhagwat said if one wants to spread one’s philosophy then gaining power is necessary. “Swami Vivekananda always used intellect and spirituality to fight for strength. So, always try to be strong, flourishing and safe, “he said. Russia, China, and the United States are strong problem-creating nations, and the United States is losing its independence, he said.

Bhagwat said that when it was founded in 1925, the RSS operated with very few people but developed into an organisation with 1,3 lakh branches across the country because of continued commitment to nation-building. In describing their work, he said that they adhered to the Indian Constitution preamble and welcomed all individuals who wished to serve the nation to come forward without any personal interest. Bhagwat cited several examples during his one-hour address to describe RSS’s work in the interests of Hindu ism, culture and history. Incidentally, he said that “all Indians are Hindus” because all of their ancestors were Hindus. He added that many countries have raised slogans of’ unity from diversity,’ but’ diversity from unity exists in India. Notably, Bhagwat has not commented on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the Citizens National Register.
