Flyer in quarantine at MLA hostel cries out for lack of facilities, officials are against him
Nagpur updates: After photographs of bad services and amenities in the MLA hostel became viral, the authorities dismissed the allegations and countered the lone complainant there with positive reviews from many others out of a total of 159 flyers in qurantine. Shortly after the city registered the firstCovid-19 occurrence, the administration had converted MLA hostel building number 2 into a quarantine facility starting March 13.
Officials said the quarrelsome flyer running a prestigious restaurant had purposely posted photos on social media to threaten the MVA government. “His room was altered three times. How does it come that he faces the same problem in every room? Why not talk about the remaining 159 flyers?”They’ve confirmed that.
The flyer returning from Columbia in the U.S. submitted a number of photos portraying inadequate facilities for MLA hostel quarantine patients. Dirty towels, bedsheets, linen, and pillows were portrayed in the photographs and videos that went viral on social media.
Although the lift was full of spitting marks, the toilets were filthy too. “The floor was drilled in one of the rooms for laying some cable but left without repairs as it is. Only corridors are not washed, “he said in the video he’d posted.
The dispute compelled the authorities to conduct a video-recorded random satisfaction survey, which placed their safety at risk. On Monday, sports safety kits for hostel and health workers went around door-to-door at the hostel to ask about the health of the flyers and whether they faced any problems. Flyers gave positive feedback on all of the videos.
In the beginning, a woman who had returned from France had written a full-page report providing specifics about how very well she was being cared for at the clinic.
Subdivisional officer Shekhar Ghadge said that all facilities problems had been properly resolved and forwarded to PWD, which is responsible for the hostel’s management, for further inquiries.
The PWD has been deploying about 13 employees at the hostel from one of its contractors. A worker said other rooms had been shown to the flyer but he chose only the first room where the pipe was not covered with a basin drain.
Humari sarkar doob gayi, ab dekhta hu tumhari sarkar Kaise rahegi’ he called us the next day and said. Once he showed us, we cleaned the soiled cloth and washed the tub. Still, how can they get dirty in a single day when there’s just him?”The worker said.
PWD executive engineer Janardhan Bhanuse said there would be a dust problem, as rooms are not air-conditioned. Anyone who suffers from Covid-19 and in Qurantine should not be held in air-conditioned spaces, as per guidelines.
District collector Ravindra Thakare said the cleaners and staff didn’t report for duty due to Sunday’s Janata curfew and he may have faced the issues. “But he should have told the authorities which would have helped him out immediately. He is only one of the prisoners facing problems. The number of inmates also rose on Sunday, which may have contributed to a shortage of facilities.
Meanwhile, a couple from Durg had to be relieved after the woman’s mother passed away in exceptional circumstances. She was sent, as per officials, in a special car arranged by them, that will be sanitized upon return.
