15 medics among 43 households in quarantine; 3 areas of Chanda sealed

After a resident of Krishna Nagar was found positive for Covid-19 on Saturday evening, the civil administration sealed Krishna Nagar, adjacent Sanjay Nagar and Durgah ward localities. Three members of the family of the 50-year-old patient were placed into the ward of isolation, and their samples were sent for examination.

Complete 28 members of six families from residential apartment in the posh Shivaji Nagar area where the patient worked as a security guard and 15 medicines were placed into home quarantine, including 10 doctors who came into touch during initial care.

Collector Kunal Khemnar issued a statement urging people not to worry and told that none will be allowed outside of the containment areas except for medical emergencies.

Sanjay Nagar and Durgah ward were designated a containment zone, both adjacent to Krishna Nagar with a population of over 10,000. Surrounding 7 km area has been designated as a buffer zone and health department will also conduct screening in this area to track people with coronavirus infection symptoms.

Civil surgeon Dr ND Rathod told that various teams, consisting of 40 health department employees, have begun house-to-house human screening to identify Covid patients. On Sunday approximately 2,500 people were screened. The contact tracing process is underway in the region, he added.

A sprinkling of disinfectants has sanitized the entire area.

Dr. Rathod said the patient had visited GMCH complaining of chest pain and many doctors and nurses came into contact with him during the initial treatment. “We’ve asked 10 physicians, three staff nurses, and two assistants to remain in quarantine at home,” he said. A total of 28 individuals belonging to six families were also placed into home quarantine from an apartment where the patient worked as a security guard, he said adding that swab samples of all those suspected contacts will be taken after six days.

He had been suffering from fever since April 23 according to information provided by the security guard. The guard also said in the last 15 days that he had not gone outside of the area. Authorities are trying to determine the origins of the infection and its allegations. His condition is now stable.

Meanwhile, Sunday morning, district collectors visited the containment area along with senior officers. Guardian Minister Vijay Wadettiwar has checked the evening’s situation.
