Start-ups need more Mentor than investor: Dhianu Das

G H Raisoni Technology Business Incubator Foundation organized Rising Bharat in collaborationwithBoudhik Ventures, Startup Buddy, InnoWork: Connecting dots for Startups. Amit Singal, Ceo, Startup Buddy; Dhianu Das, Angel Investor & Chairman, Alfa Ventures; Neeraj Das, General Partner, 7GATE Ventures; BibinBabu, Founder, Innowork and VivekDahiya, Co-Founder & Director, Boudhik Ventures, were the expert speakers for the gathering.

Dr. SachinUntawale, President, GHRCE gave the welcome address and gave memento to all the speakers invited to speak. Dr. Untawale underlined the need for this kind of handholding mentoring workshop for budding entrepreneurs and startups. Also present during the ceremony were Dr. Mragna Gupta, chairman, GHRTBIF and Prof. Ravikumar Tiwari, co-ordinator, GHRTBIF.

The program started with Mr. BibinBabu, Founder of Innowork&BlocSpaze, the session on “Importance of building a brand.” Bibin began his talk with one of the investors in Snapchat sharing his experience from working for Google. He stresses how a start-up’s name matters when it comes to the market. “You need to have personal human contact to make yourself a brand in particular on the market,” he said.

Next session was Mr. VivekDahiya, Co-Founder & Director, Boudhik Ventures, on “Intellectual Property-Do’s & Don’t For Business Growth” Vivek has shared numerous intellectual property rights such as patents, trademarks, and copyrights. He then clarified the value of IPR for Start-up by taking some case studies where few start-ups like GreyOrange-Robotics have 54 patent applications and how they market their inventions by patenting them.

He also clarified how necessary it is to secure a trademark for your brand name and logo. Following this, Dhianu Das, Angel Investors, Alfa Ventures addressed the session on “Investors perspective when funding a start-up.” Dhianu is well-established angel investors who, along with handholding mentoring, invest in students and early-stage startups. Dhainu told Startups attendee you need an investor to mentor you at every stage of your startup. He then gives details of some startups in which he has invested.

“Ninety percent of investors invest in Founder rather than in Start-up,” he said. The next session was Mr. Neeraj Das, General Partner, 7 Gate Ventures on “Opportunity for Indian Start-ups outside India.” 7 Gate Ventures is a Vancouver, Canada, and Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm. Neeraj informed how he and his organizations are helping Indian start-ups enter the international market.

Mr. AmitSingal, Founder, Startup Buddy’s last session was on “Importance of Compliances and Co-founders Agreement.” Amit is also angel investors, investing in start-ups in early stages. He discusses different legal procedures and compliances for company registration. “If it is not legally complied with,” he said, “investors will not invest in a start-up. He also explains how a valuation of startups is done.

Start-up Pitch by Start-ups from in and around Nagpur was the last part of the program. Startups such as Rostail, 3NotRobotics, WeKirana, VirtualFarm, iAmGenie and World4.0-Industrial IoT pitched their start-ups against all the dignitaries invited.

All the invited speakers were impressed with some start-ups and also agreed that all of this start-up has great potential but need handhold help at the same time. Prof. Ravikumar Tiwari gave a formal thank-you vote by thanking Shri Sunil Raisoni, Chairman, Raisoni Group of Institutions and Dr. Sachin Untawale, Director, GHRCE for providing all the support needed to hold the case.
