Akbar Padamsee has posthumously presented Kala Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar
Mumbai: The Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented today the first Vasudeo Gaitonde Kala Jeevan Gaurav Jeevan Award to the late Akbar Padamsee (posthumously). The award was given to Padamsee, who died yesterday, at the opening of the 60th Maharashtra State Art Exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai. The award for late Akbar Padamsee was won by Art Curator Abhijit Gondkar. The Governor also awarded the State Exhibition Award in the Professional category to Nagpur’s senior painter and veteran teacher Arun Morghade. The prize includes a check for Rs 1 lakh and a memento.
Fifteen young artists whose works were chosen for the show were also congratulated by the Governor. The Higher and Technical Education Secretary Saurabh Vijay and Art Director Rajiv Mishra were present. The Exhibition Catalog was issued by the Governor on this occasion.
