Yesterday, the Election Commission issued a show-cause notice to the minister of the Union and senior Bharatiya Janata Party Thakur for his remarks during the ongoing Delhi election campaign, which is prima facie felt violated the code of conduct. The EC said it was prima facie of the view that Thakur’s comments “have the potential to disturb community harmony and aggravate existing social and religious communities” and thus violate the MCC, which has been in effect since the Delhi election schedule was announced on January 6th.

A similar notice was sent this morning to senior BJP leader and West Delhi constituency member of Lok Sabha, Parvesh Singh Sahib, about his remarks made Tuesday, a senior EC official said.
