BJP pounces on Raut for bills inflated, Congress adds fuel to the petrol hike fire
Nagpur:- On Monday, political parties organized several protests in the city. While BJP protested at six places against unsustainable power bills provided by MSEDCL, Congress leaders protested the inability of central government to rein in oil and diesel prices
No social distancing was observed at all the seven sites. Most staff didn’t wear masks, either. The MSEDCL office in Tulsibagh, where staff from BJP staged a protest. When Pravin Datke, the president of the region, reached the spot, activists stood next to one another. Datke told them to stand some distance away.
Datke slammed the state government for giving consumers unsustainable bills when the lockout caused their income to fall. He slammed energy minister Nitin Raut for seeking central government assistance to cut power bills.
“The government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) wants others to do all they can but doesn’t want to spend a single penny to help the common man. Why is it still in power when it’s so incapable? The Center has given money for rations, procurement of cotton, migrants’ train tickets etc. The MVA wants employers to pay their staff, even if they can not work. During March, however, it paid its workers just half the salary. People have lost confidence in this government entirely, “Datke said.
The BJP MLC reiterated its demands for free electricity for lockdown periods of up to 300 units, abolition of all surcharges, etc.
BJP held protests in all six constituencies of the assembly. In addition to hundreds of office-bearers, MP Vikas Mahatme, Mayor Sandip Joshi, MLAs Vikas Kumbhare, Krishna Khopade and Mohan Mate, MLCs Datke, Anil Sole, Nago Ganar, Parinay Fuke, Girish Vyas and so on attended.
Congress workers led by MLA Vikas Thakre, their city president, organized demonstrations against a continuous increase in LPG, diesel, and petrol rates. Thakre hit out for burdening people at the central government, who had been hit hard by the coronavirus recession.
In Chandrapur, Congress City Unit conducted sit-in protest in front of collectorate council. On behalf of President Ramnath Kovind, MP Balu Dhanorkar met with district collector and forwarded a memorandum of demand.
