City expects the statehood of Vid or special projects | Nagpur updates
Nagpur updates:- With the BJP losing power in the state, several people, including public representatives, are anticipating the announcement of Vidarbha’s statehood with the city as their capital, or special projects for the city from the Union budget. The chances of budgetary arrangements for the implementation of pending projects, including Metro Rail Phase II, Nag-Pili Rivers Pollution Abatement Plan, etc., and the continuation of existing projects, including Swachh Bharat Mission, AMRUT, are high.
Congress City President and West Nagpur MLA Vikas Thakre said it is high time the BJP declared separate statehood to Vidarbha or special status to the city. “In the last six years, BJP in the center and state have done nothing much for the city and other parts of Vidarbha. The current MIDC clusters are on the verge of collapse. Mihan has been on hold for a long time. Most businesses are slipping into the category of the ill industries. The statehood of Vidarbha, or any special status of the city, will help to restore the lost glory of the city, “he said.
Mayor Sandip Joshi said the Modi government has approved a slew of mega-projects over the last five years, and the city will get more in the budget and in the coming years. “Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) hopes to continue funding for ongoing projects such as the water supply scheme for illegal design under AMRUT, Smart City Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, etc. City had a number of leading institutes under Modi’s administration, and more are planned, “he said.
Activist Prasant Pawar also expects the Vidarbha statehood to be declared. “We need a lot of improvements to hospitals, like GMCH. Special packages to boost orange cultivation should be announced. Metro Rail Phase II should not be cleared prior to the completion and successful operation of Phase I. The funds planned for phase II should be diverted to other urban mobility initiatives, “he said.
Architect Virendra Khare shared the need to get the real estate sector back on track. “The scheme of input tax credit to builders should be revised in accordance with the VAT system. A lot of people don’t get the benefits of PMAY. Flat buyers will earn Rs2.5 lakh subsidies directly and not through banks. Most buyers are not in a position to receive subsidies as banks disqualify them, “he said.
RTI activist TH Naidu said funding should be accepted for the planned Indian Sports Authority (SAI) Center to be completed within one year. “A special project to build all playgrounds, such as Patwardhan Ground, Reshimbagh Ground, Chitnis Park, etc., should be declared. The proposal should be formulated with people’s special voice in local urban bodies. New sources of revenue for cash-strapped NMC should be given. A proposal to impose heavy penalties for illegal construction and interference should be introduced in order to ensure a sustainable growth of the region, “he said.
Hotel owner Aman Samundre said ventures and schemes to build jobs in the city should be launched. “There are no more jobs left in town. Self-employed workers are not feasible. A lot of young people are leaving for other cities to get jobs. Several special measures for the upliftment of youth should be taken, “he said.
