The early trends in the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in the Nagpur district showed that Congress and the NCP were moving forward. In the 21 Circles of the 58 Circles of Zilla Parishad, Congress won 10 Circles, NCP 4, BJP 7. Shiv Sena and the independents had drawn nil.
Polling for the 59 seats of the Zilla Parishads (ZP) and 116 seats of the 13 Panchayat Samitis (PS) in the Nagpur district took place on Tuesday, with the former BJP and Shiv Sena coalition vying separately for this war of control. With around 67% of the vote, 14,19,708 voters sealed the fate of 270 ZP and 497 PS candidates in this election. The counting of votes and the announcement of results is in progress on Wednesday, 8 January. In Kamptee ZP Circle, Congress and BJP have packed two circles each.
