CrPC section 144 introduced in Nagpur to test the spread ofCovid-19
In Nagpur, on Monday, the authorities placed section 144 of the CrPC to monitor the spread of novel coronavirus(Covid-19).
Police said the measure, banning people assembly, was taken to prevent the spread of the disease and for the protection of members of the public.
In his order, Joint Police Commissioner Ravindra Kadam said the coronavirus is spreading globally and also in India and some positive cases of the disease were found in Nagpur too.
In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus and for people’s safety and public health, it has become important to limit the gathering of people in large numbers at one location, he said.
“In order to eradicate fear among citizens, for people’s safety and public health and for their peace and protection, section 144 of the CrPC is being enforced in town,” Kadam said.
“All financial, political, economic, religious, sports, trade exhibitions and camps, tourism, gatherings, marches, protests, and other programs have been limited by this order,” he said.
