Lockdown boosts the air quality of Nagpur

Believe it or not, but Nagpur’s lockdown proved disguised as it helped to boost the city’s air quality. Nagpur, which after Mumbai has ranked second most polluted town in the state, now appears to be better air quality on this list. The explanation for the contribution of bad air in the city was that multiple vehicles came on the streets and roads of Nagpur.

The poor air quality has now improved, according to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), the latest survey. The data show clearly that Nagpur air quality is on the right side after the lockdown was declared on 18 March. We know that Section 144 and the curfew were enforced by the Maharashtra government across the country, while the union government announced the lock-out just before the ‘Janata Curfew’ on 23 March.

Now we can see barely zero traffic on the roads inside the boundary of the city of Nagpur. The government appears to have urged the people to avoid such things as excessive travel and to dramatically reduce traffic throughout the region. Similarly, this epidemic has led to a rise in air quality due to industrial lockdown. The air quality stations in the city are managed by the Civil Lines at the Divisional Commission Office, and the other by North Ambazari Road, Hingna Road, and Sadar.
