Hardik Varma was selected for the Vizzy Trophy in the West Zone cricket team
NAGPUR: Hardik Varma once again proved his mettle by being picked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the West Zone squad for the Vizzy Trophy, scheduled to take place in Dehradun on 19 March.
Left-handed batsman Hardik is Nagpur University’s only player to make the cut for the squad in the West Region. The Vizzy Trophy is made up of the best-selected players from universities in the western, eastern, northern and southern zones vying for supremacy.
Hislop College student Hardik has represented Nagpur University in league matches. He was picked in the league matches held at Gwalior for his all-round excellent results. Hardik has also been part of the 2019 and 2018 Maharashtra U-19andU-17 teams, respectively. He’d also led teams from VCAU-14andU-16. Hardik also impressed the selectors at Gwalior with his batting, bowling and fielding skills that helped him cement the spot on the side of the West Zone.
Sports HOD Hislop College Kalpana Jadhav, Sports In-Charge Amit Kanwar, Physical Education Manager, NU Sharad Suryawanshi, Coach Prashant Bambal, and Coaches congratulated Hardik on his pick.
Hardik will enter the training camp at Gwalior along with other team leaders before leaving for the 2019-20 Vizzy Trophy in Dehradun. The team management must try distinct combinations during the preparatory camp to train the players for the difficult tournament ahead.
