Highway Mumbai-Nagpur to be named after Bal Thackeray

The government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) decided on Wednesday to name the upcoming Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway (NMSCE) after late Balasaheb Thackeray, officials said, the founder-patriarch of Shiv Sena. At the cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the decision was taken on a proposal by Minister Eknath Shinde for the christening of the mega pr The  Sena  as  ruling  partner  had asked for the NMSCE to be named after late Thackeray at that time, but the application was not approved and the decision was pending. The state government also decided to infuse an additional 3,500 crore share capital into the MNSCE at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday and waive the stamp duty on the agreements between agencies working on the project. Running across 10 districts and touching over 390 villages, it will reduce travel time between Nagpur and Mumbai from 15 hours to 8 hours, proving a boon to people in both towns and villages by opening up job opportunities. On the way would be more than four dozen flyovers, 24 interchanges, half a dozen large and small tunnels, more than 400 vehicles and more than 300 pedestrians. Earlier, number of prominent personalities  including Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, had demands to name it.
