IndiGo to start new flights to Shirdi, tickets to Shirdi.
Budget carrier IndiGo will start daily non-stop flights to Shirdi from Delhi and Chennai. The flight from Delhi to Shirdi will commence from 5 February 2020 and Indigo will launch daily flights from Chennai to Shirdi with effect from 20 February. The airline provides flight tickets starting at 2,112 on these routes. Last year, with a focus on expanding its network, the low-cost carrier started flights linking Shirdi with Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Indore.
Shirdi Airport, which became operational on 1 October 2017, was designed to handle a total of 300 passengers, including those arriving. Built on an investment of around 350 crores, the airport, with a 2500 m long runway, is capable of handling single narrow-body aircraft, such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
Shirdi is a very important and famous pilgrimage site in Maharashtra. It is known as the place where Sai Baba lived, preached his teachings, and came to Samadhi.
The SpiceJet airline operates daily flights to Shirdi from Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru. In other reports, IndiGo’s consolidated net profit grew by 168% to 496 crores in the three months to 31 December.
According to data released by DGCA, domestic air passenger traffic increased by 2.56% to 1.30% in December 2019, compared to the same month in 2018. IndiGo maintained its leading position with a 47.5 per cent share of the domestic passenger market in December 2019, data showed.
