Nagpur: LAD and the SRP Women’s College Team have won the Bronze Medal at the Maharashtra Inter-SchoolUnder-19 State Badminton Tournament, organized by the Akola District Sports Office, recently at the Vasant Desai District Sports Complex in Akola.
In the third-place bronze medal game, LAD College, representing Nagpur Division, outperformed Aurangabad Division 2-0.
Devika Kawale won her first singles very comfortably against Madhura Pedgaonkar of Aurangabad, beating her 21-8, 21-9.
Then the pair of Chaitali Nayse and Bhargavi Rambhad fought Aurangabad division duo of Madhura and Shreya 21-3, 21-5 to clinch third place.
In the semi-final, the eventual Pune Division champions beat Nagpur Division 2-0. Siddhi Jadhav killed Devika 21-12, 21-18. Siddhi and Tanishka Deshpande crossed Chaitali and Bhargavi 21-14, 21-18.
Later in the quarter-final, the Nagpur Division beat Kolhapur Division 2-0 in the last four. Devika thumped Arya Ghadge of Kolhapur, while Chaitali-Bhargavi had the best of Arya and Shradha Chopra.
In addition to Devika, Chaitali and Bhargavi, Kaveri Kashikar and Aishwarya Pimplapure were also part of the LAD College team. The team were led by Anuradha Nathile as the director.
