Relief: Citizens can receive travel passes from police

The State Police released a notice to all police offices on Friday to provide travel passes for poor people, a big relief to thousands of residents who have been stuck at different locations since their lock-out.

The order also instructed police officers to not stop and to ensure the smooth flow of goods vehicles. After witnessing the increase in online pass demand at the office of the Director-General of Police (DG P), Special Inspector General of Police Milind Bharambe (SPL IGP), issued the order.
“The lockout in the state was forced to prevent the spread of the latest coronavirus, and during the lockout time it was blocked.” As such, several people contact the DGP Maharashtra office to collect emergency travel passes. The demand for these passes has been observed to increase rapidly. Therefore, the top-level committee addressed the issue and resolved, “the order said.
IGP Bharambe has further ordered that, following verification of reasons stated in their application form, the police superintendent and deputy commissioner for police purposes (DCPs) will issue passes for people in need.
One police officer said thousands of people are trapped in different districts since the lock-out was imposed because the Government did not know such a decision. Following passes, interdistrict travel during emergencies would be simple for the residents.
