Metro Services Suspended in town until 31 March
Just as Maha Metro Metro Services was expected to be on hold for the whole day on March 22nd following Janta Curfew’s wake, we now see the officials calling for the full shutdown of the Metro services until March 31, 2020. All thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic that made huge media headlines and the complete shutdown declared by the Union Government of India along with the Maharashtra State Government to combat the virus, the Nagpur Metro train services were swift to shut down their services in the area.
The officials took the decision to suspend all of the city’s metro services, which was taken to hamper the spread of the virus in the area. There are more than five cases of COVID 19 in the town so far, and so it has put the services on hold until that time. The city has also experienced other businesses, such as malls, hotels, movie theatres, and stores, having already been shut down following orders from the government. This should help people remain indoors and have a low chance of getting this disease transmitted.
The commuters along with the Maha Metro staff were subjected to routine testing for the virus using Infrared Thermometer even during the metro’s service. The Metro offices also saw the Awareness campaign coming out, and stations even sought the support of social media. The Corona Virus knowledge was also seen on TV screens, boards, and was even aired via the public address system.
