Nagpur hospital is the largest plasma therapy trial in the world
Nagpur:- The city’s Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will conduct ‘Platina Trial,’ a state-level clinical trial to test the efficacy of plasma therapy in treating Covid-19 patients with serious illness. Officials said that as part of those trials, more than 500 patients in the state would receive blood plasma from recovered patients.
“The proposal by the Department of Medical Education for the world’s largest plasma therapy trial for severe Covid-19 patients has got DCGI nod. Will cover more than 500 patients, “medical education secretary Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee tweeted on Thursday. These are reputed to be the world’s largest such trials. GMCH, Nagpur, plans to involve 238 patients from 23 hospitals across the state after India ‘s drug controller general (DCGI) gave its final nod.
