Nagpur Smart City ranks 1st in Maharashtra and 2nd in India
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) published 100 rankings for smart cities and placed Nagpur first in Maharashtra state, and second nationwide. Now Nagpur officially became the state’s most technologically advanced, greenest, and safest city.
Nagpur Smart City Projects worth Rs 420 crore carried in town under the Smart Cities Mission include building 1045 km of roads, installing 3674 CCTVs in Nagpur Police and in Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s office areas.
Approximately 140 WiFi points, Variable Message Sign Boards, 10 environmental sensors, 56 public announcement systems, five mobile surveillance vans and five drones, 65 kiosks, 383 smart lights, smart parking, smart transport system, Nagpur Municipal Corporation City Operation Centers and the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) for Police Department were also installed.
With the exception of Nagpur, four additional towns in Maharashtra–Nashik (13), Pune (17), Amravati (20), Thane (22)–are in top 31.
