Nagpur Trader Was Caught For The Third Time To Keeping Plastic Bags.
NAGPUR: On 23 June 2018, after banning the use of plastic carry bags and other products, the nuisance detection squad of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation made its first case on Wednesday in which a Vaishali Nagar trader was caught for the third time for the offence.NDS Commander Viresen Tambe told TOI that, acting on the tip-off, civic cops attached to the Ashi Nagar zone had raided Jai Durga Sonpapdi, a production unit owned by Vasant Gupta in Vaishali Nagar. During the search of the premises, the team recovered 108.5 kg of plastic and non-woven bags, Tambe said. The trader is set to face a three-month prison sentence. The third alleged crime committed by Gupta, it was also revealed.
According to Tambe, on February 9, the team raided his place and recovered 1,130 kg of plastic bags and recovered Rs5,000 in fine. Just a month later, on March 12, the team again found around 3.5 kg of banned plastic bags in its premises. Because it was his second offence, Gupta paid Rs10,000 as a penalty.
