Nikhilesh Tabhane skates the world on February 9 for Rising Star Speed Skating
On February 9, Nikhilesh Tabhane Skates World (NTSW) hosts the Vidarbha-level Rising Star Speed Skating Championship here at the NIT International Skating Rink, Corporation Colony, Daga Design. Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, international skater Nikhilesh Tabhane said about 900 skaters would take part in the one-day meeting under the auspices of the Nagpur District Roller Skating Association (NDRSA).
“The competition will take place in four groups-beginners, quads, inline qualified and inline fancy. Skater can only perform in any one division. More than 500 entries have already been confirmed. We are expecting around 900 attendees, “Tabhane said. Seven age groups will range from under-5 to seniors— below 5 years,U-7,U-9,U-11,U-14,U-17, and over 17.
Entry fee for beginners and inline leisure is Rs 200. Rs 300 is paid for inline quad and specialist. Registration ends Friday.
Each participant will be required to report on Sunday at 2.30 pm. Competition starts at 3.30 pm and ends at about 8 pm. In the qualified inline there will be two events— 500 m and 1000 m, while quad will have two events as well— 1 lap and 500 m. Beginners and inline recreation participants will only have to complete one lap of the rink.
Trophies will be given at the first three finishers in each event. Clubs with maximum entries will claim the Championship overall.
