NMC to run women’s mobile toilet
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will use the old vehicles in the city bus fleet to ply mobile toilet for women called’ Ti Bus.’ Mayor Sandip Joshi told this during a meeting with civil body officials at the NMC’s Central Office. He ordered the abandoned old busses to be used to build women’s toilets, and the same should be used in marketplaces. The meeting was attended by Dr. Pradeep Dasarwar, Health Officer (Cleanliness), Yogesh Lunge, Mechanical Engineer, Department of Transport, Shekhar Kant and Sandip Jat, both from Saraplast Enterprises.
One major complaint from women during his discussion with people was about the lack of public washrooms in marketplaces, which is a massive problem for them. Taking note of this, Mayor stepped into brass tracks and conveyed the meeting, saying that such mobile toilet buses should be deployed on the weekly market. Two or three buses will initially be converted and soon be stationed in suitable locations in the city. At Rahate Colony T-point, one bus would be deployed, and Mayor said 50 such mobile toilets are expected to be installed by changing NMC’s old buses. The buses would have a lady’s washroom facility, and a cafeteria is also expected to be fitted in the design in which they can make use of tea, snacks, Kant said, informing civil officials about the’ Ti Bus ‘ concept.
