Private hospitals to close down their OPD

Vidarbha Hospitals Association (VHA) has called on all the private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics in Nagpur to keep their outpatient departments (OPDs) closed from 21 March in order to prevent rushing into safe hospitals and visits to daily tests. Nagpur: Dr Ashok Arbat, President of VHA, said all the hospitals will continue to provide emergency services.

“Hospitals linked to VHA have stopped routine visits to health inspections and have now postponed the scheduled operations. Now all our hospitals and nursing homes have been called upon to retain closed OPDs and to warn patients not to come to routine check-ups, “he said. Most private corporate hospitals in town are linked to VHA.

“Private hospitals are committed to supplying government officials with their facilities to combat the outbreak of coronavirus. We are in regular contact with the authorities of the country, “he said.

Dr. Arbat also recommended patients to visit hospitals or clinics from 21 March for routine examinations, if this was not required. “If possible, you can call the doctor and make sure that the OPD works or does not,” he said.

The VHA assured its readiness to work with the government authorities by offering assistance in the quarantine installations for technological or human capital. VHA has already suggested that a whole hospital with less occupancy be transferred to the government and established as the “Quarantine Hospital.”

This WhatsApp facility is only accessible for Maharashtra residents, “said Dr Manjusha Giri, IMA Nagpur’s Honorary Secretary. IMA has also supported and encouraged the Janata Curfew call, as it has a scientific basis.
