Railways are ramping up masks and sanitizers in-house to supplement the Government of India’s health-care efforts
By 1 April 2020 Indian Railways developed a total of 287704 nos. of masks and 25806 litres of sanitizers All railway zones do this but some like CR and WR have ramped up Masks and hand sanitizers are made available to all employees on duty; they are also made available to contract staff Continuing the steps taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Indian Railways In this direction Indian Railways manufactures in-house masks and sanitizers in all its Zonal Railways, Processing Units, and PSUs.
In its Zonal Railways, Production Units and PSUs Indian Railways manufactured a total of 287704 nos. of masks and 25806 litres of sanitizer by 1st April 2020. Within this regard some of the Indian Railway Zones have taken the lead, such as Central Railway with 22580 nos. of masks & 2693 litres of sanitizer, Western Railway with 46313 nos. of masks & 700 litres of sanitizer, North Central Railway with 26567 nos. of masks & 3100 litres of sanitizer and Eastern Railway with 14800 nos. of masks & 2620 litres of sanitizer.
Because Indian Railways freight operations run 24X7 to maintain critical products and supplies of goods, operational and maintenance personnel operate round the clock. The following are maintained at all workplaces to ensure the health of these workers and to raise their morale: I Masks and hand sanitizers are made available to all workers who are in service. These are also guaranteed for contract labourers.
Any workplace is provided with ii. Soap, water and washing facilities. Hands-free washing facilities were provided with the local technologies.
The iii. Social distancing is given. In this regard, knowledge is distributed regularly among all the workers such as trackmen, locomotive pilots etc.
