Safe movement of trains, CR performs special renewal of diamond crossing at Nagpur Yard
The Central Railways recently conducted special renewal of the diamond crossing at Nagpur Yard for safe train movement. The improved design would provide safe and easy movement of trains through the diamond crossing as per the details. And what’s more surprising is its tagline, Here India crosses, it’s where criss-cross train movement takes place, from East to West and from North to South. These are two diagonal crisscrosses shaped scissors in the yard and are peculiar to the heritage of Nagpur. The improved diamond crossing was manufactured at CR’s Manmad Workshop according to sources. It is now fitted with higher thickness galvanized bearing plates, prefabricated web fit block check rails, etc. According to the source, 4 diamond crossing noses no 10 & 11 and diamond crossing no 09 and 12 have been replaced. The work was successfully carried out by various railway departments with meticulous planning and coordinated execution by all of the division divisions concerned. Pankaj Dhawre, Sr. Explaining the reasoning behind the work Divisional Engineer, Central Railway Division, and Nagpur Division said earlier fittings needed to be replaced due to corrosion. Now that train traffic has increased the new design has seen increasing platform thickness, almost 16 of them placed under four diamond-shaped rail. Likewise, the test rail is now built from a stronger segment of rail to improve its life in stressful conditions.
