Soil from RSS HQ sent ‘bhoomi pujan’ to Ayodhya for Ram temple

Nagpur:- Soil from the Nagpur headquarters of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been sent to Ayodhya for the Ram temple’s August 5 ‘bhoomi pujan’ ceremony, a VHP functionary said on Friday.

Speaking to PTI, Govind Shende, Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Vidarbha prant pramukh (VHP), said soil from a temple in Ramtek and water from the confluence of five rivers, both in the vicinity of Nagpur City, were also sent for the coming case.

“It was decided earlier that soil and water would be collected from different parts of the country, including the religious sites, and people in thousands would go to the Ram temple bhoomi pujan in March. However, it could not happen because of the Covid-19 outbreak,” he said.

“Now, as the date of bhoomi pujan was unexpectedly set on August 5, we decided to collect the soil and water from the places we might visit and send it to Ayodhya,” he added.

“As part of the exercise, we were collecting the soil from RSS headquarters in Nagpur and from Shree Ram Mandir in Ramtek, in addition to water from Ambhora (five rivers),” Shende said.

“The hope is that we will feel we’ve also participated in the pujan bhoomi ceremony,” he said.

According to him on Thursday the soil and water were sent by courier to Ayodhya.

A leader of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra trust had said in Pune on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the Ram temple’s groundbreaking ceremony on August 5.

The trust member, Swami Govind Devgiri Maharaj, had also said that only 200 people would attend the ceremony in view of the coronavirus pandemic and all social distancing standards would be followed at the event.
