State-level Surajya Daud half marathon on 22 February in Nagpur.
The sixth edition of the State Half Marathon ‘ Surajya Daud,’ organized by Buddha and Magasvargiya Seva Sanstha in association with Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Nagpur District Athletics Association, will take place here on 22 February.
Addressing a press conference, the chairman of the organizing committee, Pramod Tabhane, said that the Olympic bronze medalist and leading Indian wrestler, Yogeshwar Dutt, will be the chief guest of the half-marathon and will flag the race at Mate Square next month. Tabhane said that Nagpur Municipal Corporation is offering cash prizes of Rs 2.51,000 to all the top performers.
The half-marathon will be 21,097 km away for men and women. Winners in each group will earn Rs 25.000, while runners-up will collect Rs 20.000 each. The race will also be run at 5.7 km(U-18 boys and girls) and 4.4 km (U-14 boys and girls). Winners in theU-18 age category will pocket Rs 5,000, while runners-ups will get Rs 3,000 each.In addition to Yogeshwar Dutt, Mayor Sandip Joshi, MLC Anil Sole, and former MLA Milind Mane will also attend the opening ceremony.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Maharashtra Athletics Association Secretary Satish Uchil will present the prizes shortly after the race is over. Sharad Suryawanshi, Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sport at Nagpur University, will lead. Registration closes on February 18th.
