Rlys packs 4,800 meals on 4 Shramik trains

Nagpur:- The Indian Railways, which keeps migrants shifting in a low-key affair at Shramik Special trains, also ensures that none of the passengers go hungry. On Friday four end-to-end trains passed through the division of Nagpur with at least 1,200 migrants carrying each train. IRCTC, Indian Railways’ arm, supplied those migrants with 4,800 meal packets.

Lingampalli near Hyderabad to Varanasi in UP, Ghatkesar in Telangana to Vidisha in MP, and Lingampalli to Gonda in UP comprised three of the four trains that passed via Nagpur.

“While at Nagpur station 3,600 meal packets were supplied, at Ballarshah station a further 1,200 were distributed. Both Nagpur and Ballarshah have base kitchens which were handed over as per policy decision to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC),’ officials said.

Meanwhile, the inflow of migrants from Andhra Pradesh to the Gadchiroli and Chandrapur tribal districts continued with 686 more migrants from Rayanapadu in Andhra Pradesh arriving on Friday morning by a special train at Nagbhid station.

The Nagpur division of the South East Central Railway (SECR) adhered strictly to social distancing and did thermal passenger scanning before enabling them to depart. Rayanapadu train brought 1,004 laborers to Wadsa earlier on May 6. These laborers were from the towns of Bhandara, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and others.

Central Railway’s Nagpur division also clarified that it did not refund Rs12.28 lakh as stated by in a news story on May 7, when two trains left from Wardha and Nagpur for Barauni and Muzaffarpur on May 6, respectively. “The district administration pays the fare after which tickets are released,” Railway officials said.
