Termite hill geko recorded in Pench

A reptile species, termite hill gecko, belonging to the Hemidactylus triedrus family, has been recorded in Pench Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra. The species was recorded by assistant conservation officer of Satpuda Foundation Bandu Uike. Consistent with Dr. Varad Giri, a professional WHO work for conservation of lizards, there are 161 species in Hemidactylus family. Dr. Giri says the species is also commonly found in Pench however because it is nocturnal, not a lot of analysis has been done on its environs and breeding. “There is want for additional research to conserve these species,” he added. The adult insect hill lizard could be a massive lizard and grows to a most concerning seven inches from tip of snout to tip of the tail. This can be a gecko with black and white dots forming bands, creating it look terribly lovely. Like all different geckos these to have the flexibility to drop their tails solely to grow a similar eventually. “Geckos feed totally on a spread of insects like grasshoppers, crickets, beetles, and termites. They create their homes underneath massive stones or in crevices and burrows,” aforesaid Uike.
