They had a blast from dancing to cooking at home

NAGPUR: Citizens made the most of the ‘janta curfew’ on Sunday.
Some helped out their mothers in the kitchen, some shook a leg to foot-tapping dance numbers, some binged watched their favourite TV shows and some enjoyed home-cooked food with their families.

This Sunday was quite different from the usual ones as people did not go out to have fun at restaurants and discos but were alert, smart and cautious and spent their first day of janata curfew inside by indulging in creative activities.

Abheek Ghosh from Growill Foundation came up with an innovative idea where over twenty people participated in meditation in the comfort of their homes. They were connected through a WhatsApp group called ‘Yoga Corona.

“Today we find ourselves quarantined in our homes. It is important to find the calm in our inner self and hence, we made this group and many participated in the meditation,” he said. The session was broadcast live on their Instagram page too.
Tanushree Neware, a student who loves to shake a leg on dance numbers, spent her time making tik-tok videos on the ‘go corona’ theme. “I was on a conference video call with my family members in Mumbai and we were having a virtual dance party. Later, we decided to make a funny dance video on the ‘go corona’ tune,” she said.
For Pushkar Bokarey, an engineer, the day was filled with productivity and innovation as he tried his hand at making the 3D-Printed masks shield that is used by doctors during the treatment of Covid-19.

“I tried making a few masks. The mask acts as an outer shield and protects one from germs. Hence, I just tried making it and using my time to the fullest,” he said.
Sarang Jajoo, who is an architect by profession, is spending quality time with this family. He also visits his friend’s place, Yudodhan, where they spend time chatting and relaxing.

“Home quarantine via the janata curfew is a great way to spend time with parents and family. I’m just relaxing with my friend in his office. He is a lawyer and we spend hours talking and watching movies,” he said.
Student Sugandha Rohatgi was looking forward to the 5 pm community call. “I cooked a nice breakfast and have been watching Netflix. It’s my definition of a perfect Sunday,” she said.
Earlier, family members would watch a movie or a show together, but these days, preferences have undergone a sea change. “My family is glued to the TV ever since the CM extended the lockdown by a few more days,’ added Rohatgi.
Rebecca Peter, an expert in the Korean language, is also a fan of its dramas. She was glued to her computer screen and was enjoying the latest episodes. She also bonded with her parents.

I’m a student and hence, having a good time completing my notes and assignments, but not at the cost of meeting deadlines, which is a welcome relief. Korean dramas always come to my rescue as I am a huge K-Pop fan.” she said.
“My ideal day included playing carom, reading my favourite books and watching movies. I also utilized the time to study for my exams,” said Rishabh Mutholkar.
For Ajinkya Uike, who runs a steel factory, the ‘free time’ was dedicated to making accounts books for his venture and also cooking. “I’m helping my mother in her daily chores. I’m also enjoying cooking meals for my family too,” he said.
