After lockdown, hotel industry will change forever: Experts
Nagpur:- Hotel industry is looking at a change in the way it operates after lockdown, felt experts who participated in a webinar organized by Hotel Management College of Tuli. Although the current time is rough, they all agreed that both the overall economy and hospitality sector will bounce back within a year.
Manoj Bali, Radisson Blu’s general manager, said “India’s economy will grow by 7.4% early next year. The economy will start to pick up by November and we could see more corporate business for hotels. The quality of work and services will increase and this will only bring value to the industry.
“Arjun Singh Arora, Centre Point Hotel’s CEO, expects business to pick up after Diwali. Arora said, “Clearly, nothing can be said for some before travel restrictions are lifted, but we can expect things to return to normal post-festive (Diwali) season.
Sudhir Andrews, former head of the prestigious Indian Institute of Hotel Management (Delhi), sees decreased contact with people. “Easy opening of hotels with fewer people and easy and self-service menus will be there. Robot washing machines, digital payments, and liquor choices are only some ways to reduce human contact through the mini-bar, “Andrews said.
Suresh Mathur, COO of Auro Hotels India, said guests will need to be aware of the practice of sanitization. “Hotels will need literature on how everything in the hotel is sanitized to make the guest aware of security measures.
We need to look at providing breakfast in rooms and also concentrate on sanitizing rooms by identifying touch-prone areas. “Tuli college director Urvashi Yashroy, who moderated the webinar, said,” Students need to learn as many skills as possible during this quarantine period. Not only will these skills help you gain trust but they will also give you a good understanding of the industry.
