Inform on EWS quota: High court to Maharashtra government

A little prod from Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has finally asked on Monday to the Maharashtra Goverment by next academic year whether it would be implementing the EWS quota in private aided and unaided medical college. A division bench comprising justices Ravi Deshpande and Vinay Joshi told the government to clear its position within two weeks. a plea by 17-year-old Yash for his father Brjimohan Bhutada, praying for implementation of 10% EWS quota in Maharashtra’s private and unaided medical college brings out the poser for this. Through counsel Shreerang Bhandarkar, the petitioner had sought directives to respondents to increase seats in all medical colleges with a view to accommodate more students under the 10% EWS quota.

Directives were demanded by petitioner to respondents to admit him in any of the private colleges on basis of his NEET score. Issued on July 6, as illegal and against the Constitution He prayed for declaring the provisional seat matrix for 2019-20 academic session for MBBS admissions.
