The Ministry Of Power tweeted that the call was given by PM Modi is to just switch off only light in the residence
After the announcement of PM Modi’s 9 minutes of darkness to light Initiative, some people were in confusion as switch off mode is applicable for appliances like TVs, fans, AC’s, etc. Apart from these, some people were also concerned about Grid Load Balancing as if all the people will switch off the lights and other appliances there will be a huge load to the grid and it can create problems due to imbalance in load.
But to resolve all the queries related to this initiative. The Ministry of power tweeted to clarify the confusion related to the appeal.
The tweet stated, “People are requested not to worry about other appliances as they can run other appliances”.They clarified that the call of darkness to light is the Initiative to just switch off the lights, bulbs, tube lights of the residents. There is no mention of other appliances.
Apart from these the lights of local and essential bodies will remain on. Bodies like hospitals, police stations, municipal offices, manufacturing utilities, etc. Street Lights will remain on to maintain law and order situation. To sum up they cleared all the doubts which were in the mind of some people.
Let’s be responsible citizens. Turn off only lights on April 5 between 9 pm and 9.09 pm and light candles to show solidarity against coronavirus. Let us light the lamps, or candles from our home balconies and not coming out on the street & maintain the social distancing protocol.
