A New Contest for Ganesh Mandal on Water Awareness by NMC.

Noticing the severe shortage of Drinking water, the Nagpur Municipal
Corporation has launched a new alert contest for Ganesh Mandals on water awareness. The civil body will appreciate with a prize of Rs.1 Lakh followed by Rs. 51000 as second prize and Rs. 21000 as a third prize. The contest has been planned by Vijay Zelke Chairman of NMC Waterwork consultative committee. This time Nagpur is facing a drastic change in water supply and very less water supply. Some areas in Nagpur do not have a drop of
water supply for like 8 Days. Keeping all these things in mind a lot of awareness
activities are done by Ganesh Mandal in Ganeshotsav. The city is facing a
shortage of raw drinking water in high amount. NMC is initiating various
techniques and projects and taking various types of measures for conservation
of water. Awareness through the Ganesh Mandal will help in reaching towards
people very easily and effectively. In this competition, Ganesh Mandal will
compulsorily need to display floats on four major topics,

• Water Recharge
• Prevention from polluting water bodies
• Increase in groundwater level
• Measures to tackle future demand for water.
NMC is initiating this new contest to save water for drinking purpose and to
aware people to save more water.

Nagpur Futala Redevelopment

On Saturday finally, the heritage conservation committee approved Maha
Metro’s Futala Lake redevelopment project and proposal to include 300-year-
old Gujar Wada on Kelibag Road in the heritage list is still pending. Nagpur’s
Municipal Corporation deputy municipal commissioner toke the decision to
this effect at the meeting held by NMC in the absence of retired Neeri Director
TapanChakarabarti and architect Ashok Mokha. The committee had finally
approved Maha Metro’s proposal to demolish the road opposite the Futala
Lake for construction of tunnels, 4000 seat view gallery over the tunnel,
restaurants and other beautification works. The committees signal was
necessary as Futala Lake and its bund is grade-1 heritage zone. There will be no
damage to the bund and Futala lake MahaMeetro assured this thing. Rs112 Crore
is assured for this project under central Road Fund by city’s MP AND Union
Minister Sir. NitinGadkari. “As per the Supreme Court’s order, the committee
completed the entire process and decided not to include 49 structures, including
Gujar Wada, in the list. A legal view is needed on Gujar Wada proposal as the
application seeking its inclusion in the heritage list was received a few days
ago.”Mohite said. There are chances that the committee would reject the proposal
NMC sources told. One of the members of Nagpur’s Royal families Mam
Pratibha Mane has already sent the proposal in favour to save the historical
monument from demolition for Kelibagh Road widening and concertizing
project. Gadkari, former Mayor, and Bjp corporator Pravin Datke are trying
their best level for the execution of the project. Committee had already
softened they are its stand on their violation in the case of Grand Post Office and
RBI. The GPO had been directed by the committee to demolish the structure
constructed in its premises without NOC.

The committee had made a three sub-committee to verify documents and to submit a report. The committee said that GPO had already submitted the plans to get its sanction from the town planning department. Similarly, the committee will do not act against
constructions done on RBI premises without permission. After consulting
Mokha the decision on RBI’s case would be taken said, Mohite. RBI had got
building planned sanctioned in 2006 and documents are already submitted he
added. National football association’s proposal to conduct the tournament
between 21st December to 26th December at Kasturchand Park has been
approved by the committee. However, the committee rejected other 4 event
proposal at Kasturchand park, including NMC’s women entrepreneur
convention and exhibition, India Handicraft Board’s exhibition, Gurdwara Shri
Guru Singh Sabha’s Gurunanak Jayanti programme and Bahujan Aghadi’s public
meet.

Ramjhula- Nagpur

Finally, after the wait of 12 years, Ramjhula was opened for all the public on
January 2018. In 2006 the work order of two-phase Ramjhula was finally
issued. It was estimated that both the phases of Ramjhula was to be
completed by 2009. The project got delayed due to various reasons. The
first phase was finally opened in December 2014. Then MSRDC started
working on the second phase. MSRDC mentioned that there were various
reasons to delay the projects. They had the problem in acquiring railway land,
procurement of cables from South Korea, Japan and South Africa. The obtaining
of various permissions from railway also got delayed.

Rs.46 corer was the initial cost of the project but overall Rs.113 corer was spent. The length of the Ramjhula including approaches is 600 meter, it is a six-lane structure with three lanes in each bridge. 200Meter is the length of the cable-stayed bridge. Height
of ramjhula is 56 meter. The bridge crosses the Nagpur Railway Station. On the
eastern side, the blue line of the metro will run along the central side of the bridge.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated the Cable-Stayed
Ramjhula Railway Flyover Bridge, Phase 2, at Santra Market, connecting East-
West Nagpur. The demand for many years of the people of Nagpur has finally
fulfilled. This bridge has actually solved the problem of traffic nearby to the
railway station. Ramjhula has opened for all the transports today. At the
inauguration of RamJhula Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presided over the
programme while Guardian Minister Chandrasekhar Bavankule, Public Works
Minister Eknath Shinde, Mayor Smt. Nanda Jichkar, MP Dr Vikas Mahatme,
MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, Dr Milind Mane, Sudhakar Kohale, NMC leader of
the party in power Sandeep Joshi, Leader of the Opposition Tanaji Vanwe,
District Collector Ashwin Mudgal, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar,

Workshop on Interventional Pulmonology had conducted at KRIMS Hospital Nagpur.

On 4TH January 2019, NATCON (National conference on TB & Chest Disease)
conducted a workshop on International Pulmonology at KRIMS Hospital
Nagpur. This was a Hands-on workshop and covered all the topics related to
EBUS and Cryotherapy. Young Doctors were the attending delegates who had
come from all over India to learn advanced Bronchoscopy procedures. Dr.
Rakesh Chawla from New Delhi, Dr Ashish Tandon from Allahabad and Dr.
Vivek Gupta, Dr Sameer Arbat Pulmonology specialist in Nagpur and Dr Komal
Galani also from Nagpur was the eminent faculty members. The workshop
included lectures on various topics related to Interventional Pulmonology,
followed by a Hands-On session, in which the delegates got to operate those
instruments by themselves.

The coordinator of the workshop was Dr Sameer Arbat and the chairman of the workshop committee were Dr Rajesh Swarnakar. The workshop was followed by NATCON Conference with a TB-Free Nagpur an initiative supported by NATCON President Dr Radha Munje, Secretary Dr Ravindra Sarnaik and Dr Arora National President of TB Association from India. This 73rd NATCON Workshop brought together national and international
leaders for TB elimination in India.

The Engineering Marvel of Nagpur Maha Metro.

Nagpur Maha Metro is going to construct one of its challenging structure “a largest balanced cantilever bridge near Anand Talkies. Work on cantilever has already been started with the construction of pillars at two ending points. The construction of a bridge involves two pillars at the initial and terminal end and it will proceed till both sides meet at middle without any supportive pillars at the centre site.

The full integrated structure would get ready by the upcoming August 2020. Now, After the construction of Ram jhula, Nagpur is on the way to set it’s another benchmark with the construction of a largest balanced Cantilever Bridge.

Vidharba’s most alluring spot- “SITABULDI FORT”

The remarkable Sitabuldi Fort, a battle site Sinibaldi in 1817, is located at a hillock in central Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Mudhoji Bhonsle popularly known as Appa Saheb Bhonsle built the fort just before the war against British East India Company.

The Fort is built in the memory of soldiers who were killed in the war. Inside the fort, there are still the graves of those slain soldiers. During India’s Freedom Movement Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned in prison in Sitabuldi Fort. The area surrounded by hillock currently known as Sitabuldi “a central commercial hub of Nagpur. Nagpur Railway Station is at the south of Sitabuldi and the famous Tekdi Mandir of Lord Ganesha is behind it. The fort is now the new home to the Indian Army 118 th Infantry Battalion. HCL Technologies expanding its Nagpur Campus.

IT Company HCL Technologies is enlarging its operations in Orange City, Nagpur and the campus is expected to create over 8,000 jobs. HCL Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra Airport development company. Through this HCL can expand its Mihan Campus up to 90 acres of land in Nagpur. At the current situation, the campus is spread across 50 acres with 8000 employees working. HCL Campus in Nagpur started in April 2018 which provides services like application development, Product engineering, BPO and IT Services management among others.

This turning point is expected to be beneficial for the youths of India.  Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transporter and Highways said ” Our sector has contributed immensely to help India make its mark on the world map…This expansion of the HCL campus in Nagpur will provide many opportunities for local talent and promote growth and development in the city&quot. He also said, “Nagpur has the potential to become a major investment destination”. The IT Company has been hiring many freshers from last few months. Tech Bee Work Integrated Program for high school pass out, freshers without IT Background have also started targeting to create a talented development pool. After the launching of HCL Training Program, they have hired almost 500 fresher’s offering stipend of 10,000 per month. In 2019-20 HCL will hire almost 10,000 fresher’s including high school pass out and out of this 3000 candidates will be placed in Noida’s HCL Campus. Tech Bee Work-integrated programme trains fresher’s in technical skills including coding, software skills, and R&D.

Pachmarhi- Queen of Sapura.
