Vidharba’s most alluring spot- “SITABULDI FORT”

The remarkable Sitabuldi Fort, a battle site Sinibaldi in 1817, is located at a hillock in central Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Mudhoji Bhonsle popularly known as Appa Saheb Bhonsle built the fort just before the war against British East India Company.

The Fort is built in the memory of soldiers who were killed in the war. Inside the fort, there are still the graves of those slain soldiers. During India’s Freedom Movement Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned in prison in Sitabuldi Fort. The area surrounded by hillock currently known as Sitabuldi “a central commercial hub of Nagpur. Nagpur Railway Station is at the south of Sitabuldi and the famous Tekdi Mandir of Lord Ganesha is behind it. The fort is now the new home to the Indian Army 118 th Infantry Battalion. The Fort is open to the public on National Holidays (26 January, 1 May, 15 August)
